Ho da qualche settimana questa discreta scheda (presa per abbinarla al router dlink 802.11n), basata su chipset atheros di ultima generazione (anch’esso 802.11n) e che a differenza delle varie soluzioni usb, mi offre una ricezione ottimale anche nella posizione “infelice” del mio desktop.

Ebbene, Tracy si sbaglia! Spiegare con un esempio perchè ciò che dice è errato:

Sono stanco! La vita di città mi sta stretta, anche se oramai, in 12 anni, mi ci sono abituato! Prendere la macchina e zigzagare in mezzo ad una massa di imbecilli addormentati, impegnati a parlare al telefonino mentre guida, mi fa incazzare!

Un blogger americano ha riscritto la dichiarazione d’indipendenza americana in chiave Software. Eccovi lo spassosissimo testo:
When in the course of digital events, it becomes necessary for the people to dissolve the proprietary bonds which have connected them with their computer operating systems and other proprietary software.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all computer users are endowed with certain unalienable rights, and that among these are the pursuit of control of their digital experience: the right to choose their software, the right to run a program for any purpose, the right to study and adapt the program to one’s needs, the right to redistribute copies to help your neighbor and the freedom to improve the program and redistribute the improvements to the public for the benefit of all.
That whenever any form of corporate software hegemony becomes destructive to these ends, it is the right of the people to abolish it and institute a new system, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form that ensures digital choice and digital freedom.
When a long train of abuses and usurpations by proprietary softtware provided by multinational corporations design to subject computer users to digital despotism, it is the computer user’s right — it is their duty — to throw off this system, and to provide new safeguards for their future digital freedom.

Molti sottovalutano la potenza della linea di comando, soprattutto quando si tratta di reiterare una sequenza di operazioni, che a farlo con il mouse si rischia seriamente una sindrome da tunnel Carpale…
Aldilà della possibilità di realizzare script ad hoc per ogni situazione (in proposito vi suggerisco l’ottima Advanced Bash Scripting Guide), magari da integrare con altri linguaggi di scripting (awk, perl, python…), BAsh ha una versatilità incredibile quando si tratta di accorpare in un’unica soluzione, più operazioni, mediante l’utilizzo di pipe o reindirizzamento dell’input/output standard.
